Nigerian Air Force commends new NIGCOMSAT

The Nigerian Air force has leaned its voice and expressed optimism on the new NIGCOMSAT Ltd when the Chief of Communication Information Systems, Air Marshal Ibikunle O. Daramola paid a familiarization visit to the new Managing Director, Mrs Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen at the Ground Control Station along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua way, Abuja.

Air Vice Daramola who came in company of Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors and other Line Officers of the Command stated that his visit which was with the full compliments of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar ‘who with deep appreciation and understanding, value that space science and technology and indeed communications technology, has in terms of ensuring the Nigerian Air Force is effective in conducting its operations and ensuring the territorial integrity of Nigeria by means of the air and of the space’.

The Chief of Communication information System also said that ‘the Chief of the Air Staff is aware of his presence in NIGCOMSAT Ltd and sends his warm regards and on behalf of himself and the entire Nigerian Air Force wish to congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment’.

He also said the new MD/CEO pedigree is also well recognised, the experience she has brought to bear and the skills she had acquired over the years will help in moving NIGCOMSAT Ltd to the next level in actualizing the mandate for which the company was set up, to realised those potentials that are hitherto not coming into full fruition in generating the necessary revenue and providing necessary services for the entire nation because the Armed forces is looking forward to benefiting. 

Responding to the Chief of Communication information Systems, the New Managing Director, Mrs Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen appreciated the Chief of the Air Force for the kind words and stated that NIGCOMSAT of today is beyond just giving services to the Nigerian Air Force or Armed Forces. ‘It is you been part of the journey. I want you to understand where the journey will take us to because you are important to us’. 

Mrs Egerton-Idehen stated that even though we told the market we are ‘Open to Business’, what we are actually committing to the market is that we want to deliver enhanced service to the market. ‘We have not done that before’.

Secondly, she stated that ‘we want to ensure that the market is confident that our infrastructure is reliable’.

And lastly ‘we want the market to have a fair view of the fact we are going to drive indigenous technology’.

She also commended the Armed Forces and in particular the Nigerian Air Force for constantly being there for NIGCOMSAT Ltd.
