NIGCOMSAT Launches Accelerator Program, Targets Space- Tech Coy

The Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has launch a start-up program known as Accelerator with the view to expanding its market frontier and offer its contribution in the space and tech industry. The program is designed for early –stage companies with space-tech solutions. 

The program is a Launchpad to success in the dynamic realms of technology and satellite communications. 

According to the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Jane Nkechi Egerton Idehen, ‘NIGCOMSAT accelerator program is a transformation journey spanning key stages, offering a blend of mentorship, networking and exposure to catapult start-up into global space-tech arena’.

The Managing Director stated that the key stages are divided into (5) which are the application stage, the evaluation stage, the deep dive stage, the visibility and market access stage and the exit stage.

The application stage gives an applicant an ample opportunity of submitting a ground breaking space related solutions. It also gives the applicant the opportunity to unleash his/her potential to revolutionise the satellite industry.

The second stage allows the panel to assess submitted applications based on innovation, feasibility and impact. Shortlisted applicants at this stage will move to the next stage.

The third and fourth stage is the deep dive and the visibility and market access. At this stage too, the selected stat-ups will undergo an intensive and transformative journey aimed at refining their space and satellite solutions as well as giving them unpararell access to showcase their start up on a global stage. 

The last stage which is the exit stage, will allow participants to complete and emerge with refined strategies, a robust network and a fortified foundation for success.

Mrs Egerton-Idehen stated that the program has a cash prize which will connect with markets across West, Central and South East Africa.

Furthermore, it will also give mentorship by tapping into the wealth of knowledge from industry veterans, provide digital solution and show visibility amongst others. 

The program is expected to last for (24) weeks. 12 weeks for product development and 12 weeks for business development.
